The Portage County Amateurs have been a staple on the golf calendar for more than 90
years welcoming Portage County golfers along with athletes from all over the state of
Ohio and beyond.
From the 10 th Portage County Kids Amateur that welcomes youth golfers ages preschool
to entering ninth grade to the Senior Amateur registering golfers, men and women, age
50-plus, the Amateurs offer a competitive series of tournaments for everyone: kids,
juniors, women and men.
The oldest event, the 94th Portage County Amateur, tees off the final weekend in
July at Windmill Lakes in Ravenna and Raccoon Hill in Kent.
The 54th Portage County Senior Amateur is also hosted by Raccoon Hill and
Windmill Lakes. New this season, Senior Women may register for nine holes each day
instead of 18.
The 10th Portage County Kids Amateur is the perfect start for youth golfers. The
Kent Roosevelt varsity girls team are joined by coaches and high school golfers from
Portage County to walk with the kids, help them with rules, find golf balls and make
sure the youth golfers are having a wonderful experience.
Finally, the 18th Matt Mishler Junior Portage County Amateur provides the perfect
opportunity for boys and girls in several age divisions: 16-19, 13-15 and 12 and under.
Each youth receives a $10 gift certificate as a thank you for competing.
If you have a question, please email portagecountyam@gmail.com or call or text Susan
